Hello Mamas! Pinterest from 2 different perspectives we would LOVE to hear your thoughts….

How do I love thee Pinterest? Let me count the ways…
Whoa Mamas! Over the last year I have developed a serious addiction to Pinterest. What’s that you say? You too? Who says addiction is a lonely thing?! Pinterest has sucked me in and most of my friends…ok, and their friends, like a Kirby vacuum! What is it about the virtual pinboard that keeps me scrolling through picture after picture of food porn and Martha Stewart worthy home décor? What about these so called “pins” keeps me constantly clicking, amassing a collection of ideas and dreams, categorized to my liking, convinced that someday I will have it and do it all? At this point my “pin” collection is big enough to make even the most overwhelmed extreme hoarder proud!
Here’s the kicker though, I’ve only actually followed a pin through to its link and accomplished the idea behind it maybe a hand full of times. I am what I guess some would call a “serial pinner”. One who pins just by seeing the pin itself and thinking that surely someday I WILL click on that pin and follow that magic link and when I do it will make me look more fabulous, make my home look better and run smoother and make my children happier! However, apparently the odds of me ever following through have been proven slim to none. Sooo…. good gosh ladies! Why do I keep pinning more when I haven’t used the pins I’ve pinned already? Ok, let’s take a closer look…Obviously there’re the pins for the future, we’ll ignore those for now. They’re the ones that obviously cost too much money or require too much time at this season of my life so let’s not count those. But what about the others?! Relatively simple things that might take just a little effort or time on my part (if, at said time, I am not in fact busy pinning more pins)
Well, it’s occurred to me lately that Pinterest is like any other addiction. It sucks you in, makes you believe that life is different for a little while, even when the life you’ve got is perfectly wonderful already (if not a tad mundane with a few too many potty accidents, couch stains and/or argumentative teenagers)! When I am in The Pinning Zone, I am solving all of my…ahem…”problems” one click at a time! My house is getting decorated more like I want it to be, I am finally getting brilliantly organized, I am already losing weight just by pinning exercise routines and yes, I am going to cook that fabulous new healthy recipe for my children (who are now going to get along so much better because of that parenting tip I just pinned) and it doesn’t matter that it’s all in my mind, by golly it’s already happenning! Why? ‘CAUSE I JUST PINNED IT OF COURSE!
Then…I come down off the Pinners High and back to reality. The dishes are still in the sink. Dinner didn’t, in fact, make itself. I can hear the kids fighting downstairs. Most disappointing of all, I am not 20 lbs. lighter. I know what you’re thinking. I could have been working on those things instead of giving into the addiction, the madness. Sigh. Well, I guess I’ll figure it all out tomorrow ‘cause I just found a pin on managing my time better and I’m pretty sure it’s The One, the pin that’s gonna change it all…
And if it doesn’t, I’m sure I’ll find the real One tomorrow…

Perspective 2
Pinterest A addiction obsession or worst enemy!!
What is Pinterest? Pinterest is a Virtual Pinboard (without getting poked)
“Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes.”
“Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interest.”
Pinterest is the latest craze in the world of social media. Some call it an addiction some call it an obsession some call it FUN, some call it a waste of time! A site full of DIY projects, tips on redecorating your home, planning a wedding, saving inspirational quotes, finding your style, finding the latest in fashion trends, craft projects to do with your kids, the list is seriously never ending, recipes you want to try but let’s be honest: do you really? Or does it just sit there on your pinboard for you to say “oh I would love to do that”.
Well that is what happens to me I see so many projects I would love to do, or recipes I would love to create. But my attempt to create some recipes would look like a 10 year old baked the pie. Recipes never turn out how they look on Pinterest. I want just one person to post a picture of a burnt apple pie, or a painting gone bad.

As I spend hours upon hours on Pinterest I dream of a world where everything is pretty, where there are no problems. It puts me into a fantasy world just because I find a pin on “how to raise perfect kids” do we really think that is really going to happen, or this magical cleaning concoction will make my carpet NOT smell like vomit. Or that I might lose 10 pounds with a certain body wrap…..Let’s be honest THIS doesn’t really happen. Just because my baking skills or painting skills are not the best doesn’t mean a girl can’t dream….right?
Gotta run and get my skinny wrap….till next time

I’m glad I’m not the only one who gets sucked into the Pinterest trap. In fact I have a date with Pinterest tonight, how is that for a lonely Friday night?! Maybe I’ll bust out a new cocktail recipe so I can feel productive at least
